The picture above says it all
for United States citizens.
I believe that just about
every nation under the sun has good reason to be proud of their
heritage. Even those who have had dictatorships in control of
their land know that such people do not represent the whole of their
history or the true character of their people. Every land has and needs their heroes.
The United States is blessed with a good many heroes and a great
place in human history. Not every U.S. leader has been truly great. Not every
decision and act of the nation itself has always been right. But overall, we are
blessed to have been born, as a people, for all the right reasons.
More than any other land, the citizens of the United States of America
represent the flesh and blood, the hopes and dreams, and the very best
of human beings everywhere.
Over 200 years old, we are still growing into our heritage, still
working to apply all that we believe in to all the people.
Maturity as a people does not spring up over night. Wisdom must be
learned.
The struggle to become what we know we need to be is not an easy one.
But we are learning, I believe. We are growing.
Without reservation I can honestly say that I do not wish to be a
citizen of
any other land. I thank God I am an American. And I gladly
pledge my allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to
the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible,
with justice and liberty for all. Amen and amen. |
